Party Planning and Your Plan B
Party planning is no different than many other activities. No matter how well you research and plan, life happens. And that means you have to be ready for the unexpected.
So how do you deal with the unexpected?
My answer is flexibility and being prepared with a Plan B for contingencies.
As a caricature artist, I never quite know what I will face when I walk into an event with my easel. I do my best to communicate with the client, or the event planner if there is one ahead of time, but the party organizer has many priorities and mine are usually low down on the list.
So I often find myself in the position of having to improvise.
But many conditions, such as rain at an outdoor event, can be anticipated in advance. The benefit to you as the party organizer is less stress and less cost.
For the planner of an outdoor event, having a Plan B, in the event of rain, for example, is just good basic party planning.
