Wine and Liquor – How Much to Buy For Your Party?
It’s nearly December and it’s party time. So, are you planning a holiday or Christmas party?
If you are providing the food and drink yourself, you’ll have to decide how much to have on hand.
These guidelines are courtesy of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and they can be used as a starting point.
They suggest that you have on hand enough for one serving per guest per hour. So if you have 50 guests and your party lasts 4 hours, you’d want to be able to provide 200 servings. (I don’t know about you, but the last time I had 4 drinks in one evening… let’s just say I was feeling pretty good upon leaving).
One 750 ML bottle of a liqueur or spirits would yield 16 servings and one 750 ML bottle of wine would yield 5 servings. You can take it from there.
And, if I were the party host, I’d have ample supplies of non-alcoholic beverages, too.
